Jodi Bowersox
Artist, Author & Freelance Writer

Hi, I'm Jodi Bowersox and I live in Tonganoxie, KS, with my husband, Kevin, and two boys, Tristan and Tracy. I am also mother to a horse, three goats, and eight cats.

I love to write and have written several children's stories, one of which was published in May, 2006. Entitled A Tale of Two Kitties, (Sorry, Garfield, I had the name first!) it tells a fictional tale about two real cats, Cyrus and Diana. Diana is an almost grown kitten, always looking for mischief. Cyrus is her older and wiser friend, who tries to keep her out of trouble.

It is available at jbstockings.com, amazon.com, or trafford.com under the pen name J.B. Stockings. The proceeds from this book will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Here is a review taken from the amazon website.

A Tale to Be Enjoyed by Cat Lovers Young and Old
July 18, 2006
Reviewer: Susan McKinnis
"The illustrations and story line of J. B. Stockings' book will resonate with and amuse all readers who admire or have ever lived with a cat. Stockings affectionately recreates situations cat lovers will recognize: the feline "repurposing" of a kitchen towel, the hot-one-minute-forgotten-the-next attitude toward an appropriated item, the strong pull of both sleep and play, and, of course, the mandatory exploration of new, tinsel-trimmed items in the living room. And like all children's books worth reading, Stockings' is as much about human nature as it is about feline nature. What child hasn't plotted to act under the radar of grown-ups--much as the two cats in the book discuss ways to break the rules of their "people" without drawing their attention? A young reader will learn from Stockings' tale that breaking rules may lead to unpleasant consequences, but that, in the end, love comes even to the guiltiest of rule-breakers."

I also received comments on the book in a Writer's Digest competition

"A nicely illustrated book, with appealingly drawn cats that manage to remain "cat like" while still being so humanly expressive. The story is nicely told, with realistically crafted, appealing cat characters. Their personalities are distinct and very cat-like, and each one has thoughts and behaviors that will ring true to kid readers. The language and imagery is lovely and there is humor as well. This is a beautifully written, wonderful book with a terrifically appealing story, one that should appeal to children and adults, especially ones who know and love cats."
Also at the J.B. Stockings site, you can find children's and adult musical reviews and skits, all of which benefit the CF Foundation.

In addition to writing A Tale of Two Kitties, I painted the book's illustrations and have started a business painting watercolor Pet Portraits and Wild Things. One of my Wild Things won the Best In Show award in the 2007 KPR Art Show in Lawrence, Kansas! You can view my gallery and a preview of my next children's picture book at jbwatercolor.com
